Jazz Hands Family Welcomes Henry!
Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 07:39AM I spent yesterday pacing the waiting room of a Jackson, Mississippi hospital. (Actually, I got a lot of work done thanks to the wireless in the hospital, score!) I was about to explode, because I was so excited to meet my nephew. This is how much I care about my sister:
1)I didn't Tweet, Facebook, or G+ any updates about what was going on, until after he was born, per her request. Veiled references to being in Mississippi were OK because I could be over here for any number of reasons.
This took an unheard of restraint for me. I kept finding myself reaching for my iphone to type out an update about a funny thing that happened in the waiting room, or updating my social media pals (many of whom I've never met but have become real friends) of her progress, or sending out a request for a prayer around the time he was getting ready to arrive. It was HARD! But she was the one having the baby. Nuf said.
2)My mother and I passed up a chance to go to TJMaxx when we left the hospital for lunch. Megan encouraged us to go, because she still had a while to go, but we both decided we'd feel guilty if we were checking out our maxx to the minimum bargains while Baby Henry came hurdling into the world. So we skipped it. Great. Restraint.
It was all worth it, when, shortly after 6 p.m., we were summoned to the doors outside the labor and delivery room, where Ricky emerged with his new son:
His name is Henry Andrew James. He was born at 5:55 p.m. and weighs 8 lbs, 12 oz, measuring 20 1/4 inches long.

Megan is doing great, and she and Ricky are thrilled, as is the entire Jazz Hands Family! And now ... I can share it all with the world and start going to TJMaxx to look for onesies for our big boy. A happy day indeed.
Update 9:13 a.m.
In a most exciting development, TJMaxx has welcomed Henry via Twitter. This baby has made his social media mark, and he's not even 24 hours old!
